Blood and Canvas

Blood and Canvas

Blood and Canvas is the first art site from Althemy community to be featured on Blogger.
Why? Because it is opens fundamental questions about performance art and art in general, features most influential performance artists and much more.

Blood and Canvas reflects on most debated issues in art world such as: What is art? What is the point of art? Does art needs to be beautiful or make us face our daemons?

Where is body art and performance art in all of that? Can something disturbing and provocative be art? Can ugly side of things show us a different side of beauty?

Is thought or a concept, performed by the body of an artist, without outside materials enough to be art and what is artist’s role in all of that?

It tries to open those questions through interesting stories of most relevant performance artists and their captivating performances.

There is great depiction of Franko B’s performance “I Miss You”, which cruelly critiques fashion industry by contrast and blood, and a touching story about a man behind it.

How eating greasy pastries in public can lead a person to attend Kira O’Reillys performance that leaves one breathless and speechless and who Marina Abramovic - as pioneer lady in performance art - really is.

A small glimpse into the work of Ron Aethy,  will actually help person understand the man and his art, even if they never heard of him before.

By telling stories of talented artist, Blood and Canvas tries to bring performance art closer and make it more interesting even for those who never understood it.
